Our team is composed of two board certified veterinary cardiology specialists with an interest in the field of arrhythmias. They are both authors of a well-known veterinary electrocardiography book published by Wiley in 2018, and have been performing Holter analyses for over 15 years. All our analyses are performed and reviewed by a specialist, assuring the highest quality possible. We work with many referral centers in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Pedro Oliveira
DVM, MRCVS, Diplomate ECVIM-CA (Cardiology), RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology Pedro qualified from Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas de Abel Salazar – University of Porto (Portugal) in February 2005. In 2012, he obtained his ECVIM-CA (Cardiology) Diploma after completing a residency training programme at Clinica Veterinaria Gran Sasso (Milan, Italy) and École Nationale Veterinaire de Lyon (Lyon, France).
In 2012, he moved to the United Kingdom to establish and lead the cardiology team at Davies Veterinary Specialists. His areas of interest include interventional cardiology and the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. In 2015, he established an electrophysiology (EP) laboratory at Davies Veterinary Specialists for the invasive study and treatment of arrhythmias in dogs and cats; still one of very few veterinary EP centers in the word.
He has co-authored the textbook Guide to Canine and Feline Electrocardiography published by Wiley in 2018, among other published work. He is also a regular speaker at national and international congresses.
Pedro is a cardiology consultant for IDEXX Telemedicine in the United States of America since 2019, and for Virtual Veterinary Specialists in the United Kingdom since 2020.
Antonia Mavropoulou
DVM, MRCVS, MVSC, PhD, Diplomate ECVIM-CA (Cardiology), RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology Antonia qualified from the University of Parma (Italy) in 2001 and for 2 years after graduation she worked as an Intern at the Small Animal Hospital of the same university.
In 2004 she obtained a Master’s Degree in clinical aspects of cardiovascular disease from the University of Parma where she stayed for another 4 years as a research fellow, studying cardiac arrhythmias in dogs with degenerative mitral valve disease. Her specialization continued and in 2012 she obtained a PhD with the thesis “Inflammatory mediators in dogs with chronic degenerative mitral valve disease”.
In 2017, Antonia obtained the cardiology diploma of the European College of Veterinary internal Medicine. From 2014 to 2020 she worked as a cardiologist at the referral clinic Davies Veterinary Specialists in the United Kingdom and for Holter Monitoring Service performing Holter analyses.
She is one of the editors and authors of the book Guide to Canine and Feline Electrocardiography. Willey 2018. Antonia now heads the cardiology service at Plakentia Veterinary Clinic in Athens, Greece.
